SLEEPING WITH GHOSTS
Sleeping with ghosts is a diary that tells of an inevitable relationship with abandonment.
Photography allowed me to put everything on paper, photographing my body, the empty rooms, the calm clouds, the ghosts of the mind. Everything must pass through you like this: fragile, temporary, but from side to side and in depth.
Obsession
by Claudio Composti- photo editor
“Everything interesting happens in the shadows, really. Nothing is known of the true history of men.” Celine – Journey to the end of the night
The night. That’s where the obsessions take shape and become a giant monster to fight against. There torments of Chiara’s soul come to life. In a dreamlike journey, in which waking and sleeping alternate her roles of victim and perpetrator, in a private theater at Grand Guignol.
Her daily self enters overwhelmingly into the shadow of that room, from which she is unable to get out, in a continuous obsession that mixes memory, hallucination, perhaps desire.
The body becomes a medium to express the discomfort and fear of loneliness and abandonment. It’s a presence more than body. It is an idea of oneself.
She shows us places that are not places, rooms of the mind, anchored to reality only by a few moments in which she looks out the window at the outside world, or perhaps oblivion.
Then she returns to the obsessive loop of memory, to that bed that becomes a symbol of transition and transformation, which necessarily passes through pain and death to be reborn in the light and make that inner darkness a bulwark of courage and change.
